On Tuesday August 30th I headed up to Black Lake via the Glacier Gorge TH and Mills Lake. One of my objectives for this hike (besides the fact I love Black Lake) was to see if I could find the right area for the cutoff to Shelf and Solitude Lakes ( which I did find so next trip we'll give that hike a go) It was a beautiful day in the mountains. I started around 6am and returned to the trailhead a little after 11am. I had Alberta Falls, Mills Lake and Black Lake all to myself and you just can't beat that
Just as I was getting back to the Glacier Gorge TH I ran into Diane H (my hiking partner for later in the week) it was great seeing her on trail - she was also heading to Black and up above for the day.
