On Saturday, August 13, at approximately 12:25 p.m. park rangers were notified by cell phone that a 44-year-old man fell approximately 15 feet while climbing roped on Kieners Route on Longs Peak. He landed on Broadway Ledge and suffered a lower leg injury. He was with a climbing partner. Four other climbers in the area assisted the man. The group was able to get the man over to the top of Lambs Slide. Two park rangers connected with the group at 2:30 p.m. Rangers assisted the man with a tandem rappel and lowering operation to bring him down Lambs Slide to Mills Glacier. A total of six rangers were involved in the field on this incident.

He was flown from Mills Glacier at 7:30 p.m. by St. Anthony Flight for Life to St. Anthony Hospital.

First of the season. Lucky it wasn't more serious. I'm glad he's okay.
