Today the kids decided they wanted to stay back in Estes and chill out. My husband and I headed down through Allenspark to the St. Vrain TH on Ski Road. When we got to the saddle my husband was pooped and decided to stay there and rest. I wanted to climb Meadow high enough to get a view of Longs and Meeker. I angled towards the north side of Meadow Mtn and started ascending the ridge. I stopped probably 100 foot from the summit and turned around as it was starting to thunder and I could see the tiny dot of my husband down on the saddle walking back and forth like "hey woman can you see it might start raining?" Well the rains held off til about 5 minutes before we were back at the trailhead and then it started to pour so in hindsight I could have finished off that last little bit and actually summited - you know what they say about hindsight :)
My husband heading through some aspen on the trail - I think this would be beautiful in the fall
