For our first day in the park we decided to head up to Lake Haiyaha from Bear Lake and then take the unimproved trail to the Mills Junction and return to Glacier Gorge TH going past Alberta Falls. All in all it was a fun day. Had a little drama at Dream Lake we were leaving the lake and came to an area where two trails existed - one branched off to the right back towards the lake the other to the left and what I assumed was the trail heading towards Haiyaha. There was one of the restoration area signs there and I looked for a while - the way it was positioned it looked like it meant the area to the right so I headed off on the left trail. Well some lady started screaming at me - a simple "hey I think you are going the wrong way" would have sufficed. I stopped, turned around and said "I'm sorry - I thought this was the actual trail and that the restoration area was to the right" , the lady says nothing to me - just glares. Well that kinda put me in a bad mood for a little while - I appreciate her telling me I was going the wrong way - I wouldn't knowingly go where I'm not suppose to but I didn't appreciate being screamed at (now if I had started arguing or something than yeah go ahead and start yelling at me, but I immediately apologized and turned around - it was an honest mistake going the way I went. Anywhoo enough of the drama :)
The kids had a good time, my son and daughter love climbing the boulders around Haiyaha. My daughters friend and my son's girlfriend were a little apprehensive as this was their first foray into hiking and they weren't use to it.
