LOL, I managed to get the name of all four of the lakes we visited on this day into the title. We decided to go to Dream and Emerald as our hike for the day. I love the views going to these lakes. I also thought it would be fun to see them again -- after seeing Dream and Nymph in their frozen state during STOMP. The day started with the obligatory shot of Longs. Let's see -- that should make number 500, I think. It's kind of like elk -- how many pictures do you need? But I still take a few each trip

I took several pictures at Nymph, but didn't like any of them (I hate it when that happens). They were all washed out. Oh well, I'll have to try again some other time.

After all the snowfall this past winter, water seemed to be the theme of the trip.

We arrived at Dream and had to get another obligatory shot, this time of Hallett. Don't we all have a shot similar to these?

We hung out at the lake for a while and then headed on up the trail to Emerald spotting a cascade and a bit of snow on the way.

I can name just a few things in the park, but don't know these spires. So feel free to help me identify the spires surrounding Emerald Lake.

We spent quite a bit of time at Emerald looking at this area.

Though you can't see it in that picture, this one should help you see the climbers whose progress we were watching. They are in the center of the picture, one is in red and there is another climber just above him. If you compare the two pictures, you should be able to use the trees to identify where they were. When we first spotted them they were in the trees and seemed to be resting for quite a while, but then they began to make steady progress up the face. My dad loves to watch technical climbers -- I think it reminds of his younger days when he was doing the same thing.

After watching the climbers for a while we decided we would go to Haiyaha to round out our day. We started down the trail. Coming around a bend we spotted a couple of familiar faces coming up to Emerald.

Posted Image

Yes, that is Monica.

Posted Image

and there is Rick, taking a picture.

Posted Image

We returned to Dream and spent a bit of time watching a fly fisherman.

Posted Image

He was fishing for these.

Posted Image

And lo and behold he caught one. This is a catch and release lake so he was using a barbless hook and quickly removed the hook and returned the fish to the lake.

Posted Image

There was a thread earlier about celebrity sightings in the park. When I read that I had forgotten that on the way to Haiyaha we did have a celebrity sighting...

Posted Image

Yes, that is Elmo just hanging out on a rock sunning himself...Ok, there was a small child at Haiyaha who was missing his Elmo. When we came down later Elmo and child had been reunited.

We spotted more fisherman at Haiyaha. This looks like it would actually be a lot of fun.

Posted Image

It was fun to sit a Haiyaha and try to visualize where the igloo village had been during STOMP. Haiyaha looks so different in summer. I think it looks smaller in summer than it did at STOMP as we walked across it.

We sat and had a nice rest at the Lake. I listened to a couple of photographers discuss their camera equipment and techniques. I should probably have listened more closely and picked up some ideas, but it was a nice day to not be thinking about anything in particular. I was having Emerald Dreams as I sat admiring that Nymph Haiyaha.

Great to run into other forumers. That hike is a great one with getting to see both canyons and they are each so different.

I believe that the spires are called the Flattop Mountain Crags. Great report of a great hike!

I'm really enjoing your trip reports. Looks like the weather was beautiful, too. Glad Elmo found his owner! And I do love meeting up with forumers when we are in the park.
