I should have stopped to get more photos on the way up! I had plenty of rest breaks! The trail beyond Black Lake is a steady uphill climb. But it is beautiful... and so worth it.

These images are right after it kind of levels out at the top.

We weren't sure what our goal was up there. Our guide book seemed to suggest Blue Lake because of the views. Someone we ran into on the trail said that Blue Lake wasn't much; head to Green. We were just planning on seeing what we could see. When we got to where the trail to Green crosses the stream, near the little waterfall, Dave didn't think I could make it. We met another hiker coming back from Green Lake, and he said he preferred Blue, anyway... so we turned around in search of Blue Lake.

Dave did quite a bit of exploring down on this shelf. The views down into Glacier Gorge were fantastic! I was pretty sure Blue Lake was just above this, but Dave wanted to check out all of the cairns here and just below.

I'm pretty sure this is Blue Lake. It looks like other pictures I have seen. It isn't really very big, but the setting and the views are GORGEOUS!

Once we had found the lake, it was easy finding our way back down.

We had passed these rocks on the way to the other shelf.. if we had only known that Blue Lake was just up these.....

Looking down at Black as we were starting our way down. On our way up, someone was laying on that rock, towards the bottom of the picture, reading a book. I always wish I'd remember to bring along a book or Sudoku or deck of cards... But then again, I wouldn't appreciate even a little bit extra weight!

There was still just a little snow on the trail right below Black.

We stopped to filter water here. If I were to do this again, I would filter sooner so I didn't feel we had to save water. Even though it didn't seem hot, almost perfect for hiking, we needed to drink lots of water. I was really dry, tired, etc. Once we filled up with water again, and I drank quite a bit, I felt much better. Hard to get a good picture of Ribbon Falls with all the snow around it.

Beautiful pictures. I too like that part of the park above Black. So much to see or do up there with great picture options.
