Here's some stuff pulled from my GPS for Estes Cone today. This is just data from Storm Pass, so it only covers the last 0.7 miles.

Trip up:
Distance: 0.70 miles
Elevation gain: 783 feet
Elevation loss: -34.8 feet
Avg Slope: 21.7%, -7.2%
Max Slope: 63.8%, -20.1%,

Trip down (we accidentally shortcutted a couple of switchbacks on this):
Distance: 0.62 miles
Elevation loss: 752 feet
Elevation gain: 47.4 feet
Avg Slope: 7.8%, -25.6%
Max Slope: 22.9%, -47.6%

Needless to say, that last bit from Storm Pass is a workout. But where else can you see this?

It's funny, we hit that part of the trail (you know where I'm talking about if you've hiked Estes Cone) and I said "Oh crap" and my son said "Not steep enough!" He was disappointed that the whole thing wasn't going to require hands and feet.

Looks like there would be hands and feet, very rocky. Love the views from there.

I like the one looking at Meeker, LP and Mt Lady W. Looks like there is still a lot of snow going up the gully to Meeker. I doubt that will all melt this year.

great pictures.

I'm pretty sure I know exactly where you said "oh crap" - I said something similar when we did this hike about 10 days ago. That last push to the top was a kicker but totally worth the effort. Loved it!

I KNEW my GPS app was lying when it claimed a max positive gradient of 32.7%

That last half mile is like climbing a ladder...
