My last hike of this trip. We wanted to hit Wild Basin at least once as it is one of my favorite areas. I had not been to Pear in probably 12 years. The hike itself was unevenvtful but the trip there provided some entertainment. As we were leaving our housing (we stay at the Woodlands on Fall River Road) around 5 AM we came upon a bear at the entrance of Woodlands, near the bridge. He was actually just starting to go across the bridge when I came around the corner of the back lot. My lights made hime pick up the pace. Didn't have any time to get a photo as it was too dark and he was too quick. Be that as it may he was a big one, probably in the 300 lb range. Biggest one I have seen out here. The hike itself was non descript but just the same another great day in the mountains. There was virtually no snow with the exception of a couple of small patches near Pear. But, it certainly looked like there was plenty of snow beyond as you go up to the Hutchinson Lakes. Some day I would like to venture on up there as well as Copeland. The SE side of Copeland still had plently of snow on its slope. The Cony was flowing as if it were early June! A couple of pictures below.

The sun was just beginning to make it's daily appearance in the woods. I am always amazed at the lighting it provides right at sun up.

Finch Lake was calm and without a sole there. There was a deer on the far side grazing but you can't see it in the picture.

Finally, Pear Lake with Copeland and what I think is Ouzel Peak in the background.

I did seem that way. I caught it at just the right time. Almost looks like it is on fire. Somehow I need to do a better job of the background sky.
