On July 9, 2011 Pip and I climbed Chiefs Head from the Glacier Gorge side. We climbed up the couloir.
At one point we scrambled for a while on the rock, but needed to move back onto the snow. It looked something like this.

Man that's steep. I bet the inadvertent slide down would be fast.

An inadvertent (unarrested) slide would be bad.

Hello,

I haven't been up it yet but was wondering about the best descent route.

What descent route did you use?

They went out via Wild Basin. I think they dropped down into Lion Lakes, if memory serves correctly. Jinks has posted few times about the trip.

Yes, we ended up climbing down the "other" side and hiking out to Wild Basin. This wasn't the original plan, but I didn't feel like going back down the steep couloir.

Here's a trip report. http://www.rmnpforum...ief's +head
