One of the main things to do on our list. I see it is open for hikers for 4 miles but wondered if the road will actually open this year?

You probably mean "Old Fall River Road"... a member here was just up in that area recently...
4. I have no idea if OFRR will open this year. There's still ten foot drifts on the road.
OFRR = Old Fall River Road..
It's hard to tell, even if the snow melts off there may be some pretty good repair work on the road that will be required. As in all things. set it up as a plan, have a plan B..

I thought I read somewhere that the park was not optimistic about getting OFRR open this year because of all the down trees. I was trying to find the article I read that in, but I can't find it.

From the facebook page for the park today.
Old Fall River Road is currently CLOSED. Plows are working through 12-15 foot drifts near the top of the Road. The road will remain closed until plowing and road maintenance is completed. The road is open to travel by hikers and bikers on Saturday, Sunday and Monday ONLY. Please keeping checking the road status on our website. http://www.nps.gov/r...road_status.htm
