We had originally wanted to take this hike to go above the lake and explore as we had done a bit of that last September. With all the snow, we knew we wouldn't be able to do that but decided to hike it anyway. There was a ton of snow! A ton! It reminded me of snowshoeing there in March a couple years ago. The trail peeked out every once-in-a-while. We are glad we had our GPS to help guide us as there were several confusing spots. We were able to follow some footsteps also. Here are a few pictures.

Awesome Pics!! Quick Question- generally how hard was the trail to follow? Are there enough footprints to make the general way? I'm considering doing Odessa next week.

I've never seen Alberta Falls from that perspective. Cool!

In mid May the whole center of Notchtop was filled with snow.

Right where the trail gets completely covered- and I mean total snow everywhere, it's tough. We could kind of tell where people had been, but didn't really find footprints till we got into the trees a bit. I was very glad I had my GPS as it still had my track from that hike when we did it in September. We had to pull out the GPS several times to make sure we were ok.
I admit I'm not the greatest route finder, so the GPS was a big help, but we could follow tracks once we got into the trees a bit.

Great to see and here the conditions at Helene. It Looks like it is the same at all the high lakes then.
