A couple interesting excerpts from an article (http://www.piquenews...ackcountry 1821)...

"Rocky Mountain National Park, which had one of the highest rescue incident rates in the country in 2010, is popular with hikers and mountaineers. ... Over three million people visited the park in 2010 and there were 249 search and rescue incidents, higher than the park's five-year average."

Wow, found a trip report from that area, some scary terrain indeed. This is a year when it would be nice if the CAIC could have kept reporting into June, realizing we are ultimately responsible for our own safety in the backcountry it is still nice to have all the good resources you can get available. I suppose it is a funding issue also.
