I had just graduated from HS, and was working for the town of EP.. the entire week before the flood it rained, saturated the ground, we were sopping up water in the street dept. shop.. My girlfriend and I considered going to Fort Collins to see a movie.. we didn't go and watched TV at my mom and dad's house.. when i took her home at midnight, Elkhorn Ave. only had one passable lane.. the middle... dad was camping at the Haynach lakes, Mom was worred that he was in the high country.. but it never rained on their camp.. the lightning was so intense and steady you could read a book .. I couldn't count how many times the lightning and the thunder were simultaneous..
It will be 35 years ago, July 31..
The next 3 days was one of the most horrific things i have ever experienced..
I had met Hugh Purdy.. in the parking lot downtown every now and then, when we cleaned the streets from 6 am to 8 am.. nice guy.. some of my classmates lost parents, and there were numerous near misses similar to my own..

Yowza!
It's always very interesting to get first hand accounts from those in that storm.

That was a very sober and interesting presentation, High Plains Medic. I remember that from the news reports.

send your rain our way, Glenn. God knows we need it.
I'm with Aaron, hearing the experiences of those who lived through an event is always fascinating.
