Wow. That's a pretty wild descent. Good thing you know the area like your backyard.
I scared myself once, I stopped thinking about it for a while and I forgot where I was. Strange feeling, I forget every once in a while when in deep woods but in a whiteout... Yep, strange.

I am so inspired by your mountain knowledge my friend. This is the first time I have ever heard of clouds coming in from the east like that. I had no idea they could/would do that. I got my mountain weather lesson for the day. Thank you for such an interesting report. Looking forward to many adventures with you this summer.

I hike the park often but had that been me on that day they would still be looking for me. But then again maybe no one would care!!! Anyway, that is quite an adventure. Very impressive. Do you carry SPOT or a GPS? If not we all need to chip in and get you one!

What a trip huh? the views up the mountain are spectacular, and then having to deal with an up-slope whiteout.. Unlike the prairie whiteouts.. where its all flat, its good to examine the terrain from previous trips and sense more than see where you are.. We also encountered whiteouts nothing lasting as long as yours, but the key was and is keeping your head.. Good on ya Yank! as they say in the land down under.. made my day..

You are truly amazing with all your knowledge about the "lay of the land" in Rocky! I loved hearing about this trip, but still worry about you hiking all alone on such an incredible journey! Thanks for posting those beautiful pictures.

Great pics and story. Much prettier than what we had here. It is really cool when you are above the clouds. I first saw that in either 1976 0r 77 on a trip from Missouri to Black Hills to Yellowstone then down through RMNP. We were above the clouds in RMNP. Had to dig out extra clothes then. My flipflops just didn't work.
