Wow, I have to agree with Terry that it looks like a lot more snow than we had for the Stomp and this is May. I'm so glad that you got out, Jennifer and thanks to both of you for the great reports and pictures.

Is that the Chaos Cascades that you followed down? Beautiful!

I think Ed mentioned that we went down Chaos creek. I have to admit....it WAS beautiful, just a little bit scary for me. :)

it is great to have such awesome people to hike with. Thanks for sharing your experience and feelings with us Grannyheart!!

I owe my thanks to this forum for all my hiking buds. This is where all of my hiking adventures began because of the amazing folks I've met and become friends with. I never hiked before I joined this forum just a few years ago. My life sure has become much more adventurous since then!!!

I wasn't gonna share all my feelings....mostly cuz I was such a wuss! lol But then I thought....well, maybe if I share what I went through it might help someone else try something they might otherwise shy away from. Just make sure you have someone with you who knows what they're doing. :smile1:

Oh, Granny, I am so glad you got to Haiyaha this year after all.

Terry, it was GREAT getting up in those hills with all that snow! It was the "coming down" part that was hard for me this time. :) I've never seen that much snow at Haiyaha....it looked very different!

We really had wonderful weather today and the views were awesome.....as always.

The weather looked a ton better than Sat. That cornice at the top of Chaos is awesome.. Could you imagine the luck of seeing it come down.. "while in a safe zone of course"

Nice trip!

I love that you did, reliving your post in my mind sure helped me through my bike ride yesterday. There was a cross wind and the ride wasn't much fun (couldn't get up out of the seat much) but I kept thinking about you soldiering through on your hike and ended up going 30 miles by the time I was done so a big THANKS! to you for helping to keep me from quitting when I wanted to :smile1:

Gosh, Staci, I helped YOU??? OK, thanks for making MY day! A large part of why I keep doing what I'm doing is so I'll be able to make it up to Chasm with ya in less than 4 months. The thought that my post was in your mind motivating you while you biked seems unreal to me. And....you biked 30 miles??? WOW! So, I guess things work in circles.....cuz now I'll be thinking of your post next time my legs feel too heavy to lift.....and then I'll continue to lift them and move forward. I'm really looking forward to our hike.

Yes, Chaos Creek but also Chaos Cascades. Beard Falls is at the top. The skier bunch call it Mario's Gully.
It may become know as Trail Of Tears.

What a great day and great trip report. There definitely looks like a lot of snow has fallen recently. I'm glad I didn't have to go down that way  OMG would have been mild compared to what I might have said :smile1:
