Ha! We don't mind if this is discussed as long as it's not a Democrat vs Republican or right vs left or some other political superbowl type of fight that involves one side hating on the other. So I've not contradicted our policy. If that stuff is avoided and people stay civil and respectful then there won't be any problems. For those that want to play superbowl politics it shouldn't be hard to find a website suited for that.

I agree. Someone needs to play by his own rules. He must be on some type of power trip.

This is an outrage that these clowns hold OUR park(s) hostage for their political game-playing and leveraging. Doesn't surprise me but it still ticks me off. I'll be making a one-handed call to my representatives soon.

So, with all this talk about debt ceilings, default and shut downs, I need some advice. We will be coming to Estes and hopefully RMNP in September. If the park is closed due to unfortunate circumstances in Washington, what are some other hikes that will be available. We were hoping to do CCY and Mt. Ida among others this time. That should give you an idea of what we are capable of.
Would a trip to Mt. Bierstadt be affected by a shut down if it occurs?

The national parks made it through and RMNP is in no risk of closing this year.

As far as I know there is nothing going on in Congress that would strip funding and shut down parks. Getting into RMNP or any other national park should be of no concern this year.

I also had concerns because if I remember back a few months back if they do not pass budget then the whole government "shuts down" until they pass a budget and I remember seeing on the news (few months back) that the national parks would close if the government has to shut down.
