I want to hike up to Hallett with Jenny this year. What goals or plans do you guys have for hiking in 2011?

Hallett is on my definite list.
Thunder Lake is on the short list, if I can find the right partner and timing.

I want to have a "family" vacation this year. Introducing my younger kids to the park. Its always so special to see eyes light up in awe at God's handiwork... My three youngest kids have not been yet, and hopefully this year will be the year!! :yup:

My wife and I are hoping to summit Ypsilon and maybe on the way back, add Chiquita and Chapin. We are also thinking Mt. Ida and Mills and Black lakes. All places we have not been yet. We are planning on adding a fifth day in the park this year.

Mirror Lake in the far north part of the Park, Little Rock Lake in Forest Canyon, Mt. Orton, and Blue Lake in the Never Summers.

Maybe we'll have time to do the Bear Lake -> Fern Lake Trailhead this year, using the shuttles in the valley. We've been talking about it but just never have got 'round to it. HPH

Nothing big on the radar right now. Just focused on Stomp and then our spring break trip to Arches and Canyonlands in March...

But the little guy really wants to go past Black Lake to the base of Spearhead, so that will be first on the list if we can get a backcountry camp site.

We're just hoping there is another this year. But IF we can...I want to work Wild Basin. Bluebird, Pipit, Pear and Cony. That's the last area on my list for the east side.

Fairchild, Powell, Lake of the Clouds, Richtofen (sp).

One destination that is not mentioned much is Rowe Glacier. I did that last year along with Hagues. That Glacier setting is the best in the park I think.

We are thinking Timber Lake and up the pass toward Ida, East Inlet to Spirit Lake on the west side, then exploring up above Lake Helene, beyond Thunder or Lion Lakes in Wild Basin, plus one more on the east side.

Too many to list. Got two separate trips planned in August one with family and one solo.

For the family trip my son and I are going to attempt Longs again and I want reattempt Gabletop after choosing the wrong gully up from Primrose Pond area - should've went all the way up to Loomis Lake before heading up :)

For solo trip my goal is to get to Gorge Lakes with Diane H. and also Chasm/Iron Gates to Meeker Ridge with Grannyheart. Also got a few other ideas in mind. Last year was a horrible year for preparation and it showed on the trails. Since returning from that trip been hitting the cardio pretty hard and hopefully it will pay off this summer :)

One of the best parts about RMNP is daydreaming about all the places you want to go and each year learning something new.

I'm hoping to do Long's Peak this year. I've been reluctant to try Long's, not so much because it's
tough (and it IS tough), but because of the crowds and recommended the middle-of-the-night start
time. I think the many nice posts from the "GBUTH" forum members also provided some needed
motivation. We'll see how it goes.
