The closest we get is when it snows real hard and a lake is about to freeze. The snow forms slush on the top of the lake and sometimes that is enough to start the lake freezing over. Other times, the wind can blow all the slush to one end of the lake and the waves turn it into a moving mass that looks like the frazil ice but it doesn't flow. I've seen slush moving along in a stream when it snows hard but it is nothing like the video.

Mother Nature in destruction mode! We used to go to Yosemite in the mid summer months to escape the heat of the San Joaquin Valley.
