Lee Kemper, a former licensed wildlife rehabilitator, found Annie, only a few days old, after she was attacked by coyotes. He had nursed her back into good health, and let her free yet each time she returned. Annie the elk, has been gone, at times, up to two weeks. One time she came back pregnant ohmy.gif

Now the Kempers have Annie and her 'grandchildren' hanging out on their property, which is a llama ranch in Estes Park. Kemper says he has never hidden anything and that wildlife officers have known about Annie for years. Recently someone has complained to the Department of Wildlife resulting in the demand for the surrender of Annie.

Kemper thinks that relocating Annie may result in her death. "I don't know why they want to take them away now after she's been here 9 years; after she's decided where she wants to live", said Kemper.

Here we go again - why can't people just mind their own business - and let things alone. I hope that Annie is not taken into the wild. What is she hurting? twocents.gif

I actually had to tone down my initial reaction. cussing.gif I'm kind of from the" live & let live" school of thought. I'm sure there are no other issues in that persons life that need tending to.

People thrive on being nosy and trying to interfere with the lives of others. In a place like Estes where Elk are all over, how can this one and her offspring possibly be bothering anyone.

Allie get a little mouthy, roflmao.gif , but seriously, I couldn't agree more. The term "get a life" comes to mind. Just leave Annie and the grandkids alone.

Ditto to all of your thoughts. I think Annie can just stay put. I sure wish we could have some elk hanging out on our property....I also wish our property was in Estes Park!!

Sniffle, sniffle. . .just the thought of Annie having to leave the only home she's known makes me sad. Jeeeeeeeeez. . . .I just can't get my mind around people that would even think like that. I hope they are giving these whiny, complainy no-gooders the significance they deserve. . . .NONE!

I guess I better re-think bringing one of the elk home with me, huh??? I was thinking, maybe just a teeny tiny one ????? We have plenty of room on the foot of our bed where it could cozy up and sleep with my cocker spaniel ??????

Why don't people mind their own business. There is elk everywhere out there. Why pick on this one elk that has decided she likes living where she is at. She is free to go wherever she wants and that is where she wants. Some busy body got a burr in their underwear about it. In a town which is about 10 miles from us they had a pet donkey that lived at these peoples house. The donkey was bought as a baby and raised by these people. Most of the neighbors loved to here the thing heehaw and have it around. Well one of the neighbors got a burr in the underwear about it and started complaining. They had to get rid of the donkey because of 1 neighbor and it was against the city codes. They where leaving the city codes slide until they had a complaint. It only takes 1 person complaining to ruin everything.
