The Brown Creeper, Certhia americana, is one of my favorite birds. The bird is uncommon in mature woods, particularly in wet shaded areas where it creeps on trunks and large limbs. Most of the time, this bird is deep in the shade. But, today, the bird was not so shy about being seen on the more sunlit side of the trunks and branches. Feeds on insects and spiders gleaned from bark. Easily recognized by its long, curved bill.

What a cool bird, love the curved bill. Glad you were able to see him on the sunny side.

I've had the opportunity to observe a brown creeper climbing up trees in the yard in the wintertime. It's interesting to watch them as they only climb up the tree bark unlike the nuthatches I've seen going down a tree trunk head first. Of course, I've never been close enough to even think about getting a shot of the creeper. Congratulations on getting such an up close and clear shot.

Picture works well---I like the tones of the background. That is a really sharp shot excellent detail in the feathers.

Love to watch these guys. I sometimes get them in the winter. They often travel with a mixed flock of titmice and nuthatches.
