Had a lot of rainy days and cloudy skies on this year's trip, but this fellow tried to had a bit of color to a drab day.

I believe this is a Towhee.

Excellent and interesting portrait of a Green-tailed Towhee. Very nice capture. We are still seeing this bird in the park at the end of September. That's unusual. It spends its summers in the Rockies and migrates to Mexico in winter.

I'd rather stay in CO as well. Nice picture. We'll both get better weather next year.

It's delaying its departure until things settle down along the border.

Very nice. You have captured some excellent details in the feathers and face.

This is a really nice shot. I love it when all the details are sharp. Would you mind telling me what kind of camera and lens were you using? Oh and where in the park did you take the photo?

This little guy was photographed at the entrance to Beaver Meadows, about a 1/4 mile inside the turn off. Photographed with a Nikon D300 with a 300mm f4 lens and a 1.7 TC.
Camera mounted on a tripod and cable release. Day was VERY cloudy and overcast. I also saw one of these bird in Moraine park near the mailboxes.

Thanks for looking and asking.

Amazing picture, Larry. I bet it's better than the one the Audubon Society uses in their book.

I love how you can see the color in the towhee's eye.

Nicely done, Larry!
