I first met Glenn on a cross Continental Divide hike with Aaron. He is an amazing guy and the owner of Fat Heads South Shore Saloon in Pittsburgh, PA. There are two kinds of memories that dads create: the spontaneous ones that just happen during everyday life, and the planned ones like taking your kids up LONGS PEAK. Glenn and his wife Michelle were the first to arrive at the Boulderfield and the first in our group to summit. Here they are enjoying the alpenglow.

I met Chris (Junkie) for the first time at the Wednesday GTG at Hidden Valley. If I remember correctly he was the first one there. Junkies have to have their forum fixes, you know. I also saw him at the library surfing the forums because a true forum junkie has to check the forums even when on vacation. Here he is with Grannyheart at the GTG.

Alex and Jen are amazing. I think Jen is 11 which makes climbing Longs a huge accomplishment for her. Alex is strong!

Before we left the Boulderfield in our groups of 3's and 4's we got a group shot. Left to right, Ben, Lora, Chuck, Monica, Alan, Rick, Chris, Jen, Alex, Bill, Sandy

On the way up we met Glenn's Gang returning from a successful summit.

You really should have had one of your kids along, as you are an awesome dad who creates amazing memories for your kids.

Great report as always.

Thanks John. That was nice.

Nice meeting Chris and his family as well. Major kudos to Jen. That's a heck of a hike for an 11 year old. Chris gets his due as well. We saw them at the end of the Trough and Jen did not want to go on. Chris gave her the right encouragement and on to the summit they went.

John, that is a very nice tribute to the dads (and some moms too) who took their kids up Longs. It is a great experience that I'm sure they'll never forget.

I've had the pleasure of hiking with Junkie a few times in the past 3 years. He is an AWESOME dad, and it was great to see him take Jen up Longs, since he took his daughter Sara up Longs when SHE was 11. It was a pleasure to meet Alex... a fine young man.

I'm so glad I finally got to meet Glenn. What a trooper to get his family up Longs Peak and back down in the time that he did!

Talk about memory makers. . . those photos do the trick. I love that one of Glenn and family returning from the summit. That looks like it belongs in a big frame in their house :) Thanks, John!

Great report -- having been a kid (15) who went up with my dad, I know those memories will last a lifetime!
