Typically the temps up high are about 10 degrees colder than Estes but 20 degrees difference wouldn't be unusual.
Thanks Ed.

The www.accuweather.com extended forecast for Estes Park shows highs in the 50's the 16th, 17th and 18th. That is as far as they forecast today. What do those temps mean for the Stomp? Will RMNP be very different than Estes Park?

NOAA point forecast for Hiyaha, usually pretty good.

Whoever is in charge put me down for the Friday stomp. Hannah and Izzie are both playing in a basketball tournament on Saturday so we will miss, bummer.

I'll be up at camp after spending Thurs. night there. JP will be leading the bunch again on Friday and Saturday. Mike/son will be pulling a pulk on Friday to build an igloo and spend Friday and hopefully Sat. nights up. I think there was also someone else that is coming up Friday. Just show up. You don't need no puttin down.
It'll be good to see you again,

I was planning on joining some of you on one of the pre stomp hikes but I came down with pneumonia about 10 dats ago. I was so looking forward to meeting some of you and while I will be in Denver next week and up to Estes as well any long hiking mileage just won't happen I fear. I may try to do Dream one moring but that is probably about as far as I can go in my weakened state. Good luck to all and I hope you all have fun. Maybe next year.

I have been sick all week and it is killing me, worst bug I have had in years. To top it off I'll be traveling to Iowa next week and I get back late Thursday night. I hope I get better soon, and my best wished to anyone else afflicted.

You could easily follow us either morning. With a large group, the trail we make looks like an autobahn freeway. So, at any point you can decide to turn back and go get some rest. The trail (more like an endless trough) is quite easily followed.

I would just like to confirm that we are meeting at the Bear Lake parking lot at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday morning. I thought I saw this information somewhere, but just can't seem to find it. I am driving up in the morning and don't want to be late. Thanks for any help you can offer.

Yes, you are correct. The information is in the "Warm up Hike" thread, even though it isn't a warm up hike, it's the real thing. But 8 am at Bear Lake Parking lot is where we are meeting.

Well, Jim and I meet Mike (and his son Erwin) in the Bear Lake parking lot at 8am yesterday. We hit the trail by 8:30am and arrived at Ed's igloo village about noon. It was a nice hike (but then again, I wasn't pulling a sled like Mike!).

We stayed and helped them get a 9-foot igloo started. Jim and I had to leave at 4:30pm so we could get out of there before dark... the igloo was about chest-high by then. We had a nice hike out in a beautiful, quiet, light snowfall.

Just at the eastern edge of the Boulder Field (the big, open, straight-up area), at about 5:20pm, we passed Frank and his son Ben (6 years old, with a backpack!) on their way up to the igloo village.

Today, Jim and I will be at Bear Lake parking lot @ 8am.
