Went up last Saturday to check out the couloir on Hallett's east ridge. Just a few pictures:

I went up with SkiBudFrank and it was a great day on a climb that I had never done. There were a couple spots that got my heart going.

Strenuous... I did get a good upper body workout. Lots of good hand holds though.

Cool looking hike, though as already noted, challenging.

How wonderful.

It's been years since I did mountaineering of this caliber, and I sure wish that I'd been able to do it back then on real routes such as this (and people with experience). The old-time approach was "well, that looks interesting, let's go up that way", often followed, sometime later, by "Holy crap, how did we get ourselves into this fix??" It was a great way to experience adrenalin rushes, but that was then.

I'll have to file this away for future reference. Nice report. HPH

Did the snowfield make the class 2 route inacessable?

That's very possible but it was fun.

Because they were strenuous, or because of footing and exposure?

Man, if I didn't have to work, that would have been such a cool hike and the workout my body is needing! Great pictures, looks like you guys had a great time?

Smooth rock with little rivulets seeping across it over a potenial 6 foot fall. Frank took a different route that was safer. I was enjoying the climbing and it looked interesting.
Down lower too, Frank went up the semi loose rock and I went out on a face, quite a bit of exposure there but it was safe climbing. There seems to be different route choices in most places if not all. We probably could have also went along side the snow like we did in one of the pictures, that makes it pretty easy but gets your legs muddy from rubbing on the dirty snow. Not real bad though. I think Sandy would like a mud pack on her legs.
