Day 7 (Roger and Dakotas Hike)

Roger and Dakota wanted to hike down from the AVC to Milner Pass so I dropped them off about 9:30 am at the AVC parking lot and made plans to meet them around noon down at Milner Pass. Now I was not along for this hike but I wanted to post some pictures for them. They both agreed that it was a very nice easy hike with lots to see all along the way.
It was a little cool starting out

Can you find the Bird in this picture? Took me a while to find him I had to ask them why they took a picture of a bunch of dead trees?

Another nice view

Looks like a very nice hike… I guess I will have to give it a try next time and maybe my ride at the bottom won’t be late!

I really like this hike. We've done it lots of times and love the views. That gravel area you wondered about is part of Old Fall River Road. It used to go all the way across to the west side. You also come across some of it on the way up the Mt. Ida Trail.

I was grieving that you had posted your last report and I then I get a BONUS! Maybe you have another husband with other kids and you will be telling their story also?

This is the hike I wasn't able to take the last time we were out there, I got sick. Now I really want to reschedule with Rhonda and try it again. It is beautiful.

That first Forest Canyon photo (first post, #4) is a lovely record of how it is. Save it for posterity. I grieve to think how it's going to look when the bugs are finished with it. HPH

I love this hike. It is a great one to do when you first get to Rocky to acclimate - all downhill. But, you do need 2 cars or someone to pick you up at Milner Pass. When you finish at Milner, be sure to cross over the road and do The Crater hike - if it is open. Often is closed due to Bighorn activity.
