Park rangers were notified this morning at 5:30 a.m. by a hiker who found the man's body. It is believed the man fell sometime after 7:15 p.m. yesterday. A park trail crew, who were camping near the Boulderfield, were the first park staff on scene at 9:30 a.m.
Park rangers were flown to the Boulderfield by the interagency United States Forest Service/National Park Service helicopter from Bridger-Teton National Forest and Grand Teton National Park, staged in the park for the Cow Creek Fire. They hiked to the scene and reached the man at 11:02 a.m. The victim's body was flown to a helispot in the Upper Beaver Meadows area of the park at 1:30 p.m. His body was then transferred to the Boulder County Coroner.
The victim was in a hiking party with three others, who had stayed behind at their backcountry camping site at the Boulderfield, and were not with him at the time of the accident. The victim's name will not be released until next of kin are notified.

"EAST LONGS PEAK TRAIL — In his hiking life, 22-year-old Corbin Mabon had never encountered winds fiercer than those that greeted him at 3 a.m. Friday on the 14,259-foot summit of Longs Peak.
He crawled onto its square-topped summit on hands and knees, fearing he would be blown off the mountain if he dared to stand. He paused to savor his 16th triumph in a quest to conquer all 54 of Colorado's 14ers, then started down.
That's when he saw a mangled body.
Another solo hiker had fallen hundreds of feet to his death, an apparent victim of the vicious winds.
Sometime during the night, "he was either blown off the top or he took a wrong trail," Mabon said..."

Wow... I just now heard about this. I did Longs yesterday (via Keyhole) and had no idea there'd been a fatality on Friday. Conditions can change so much from day to day. Yesterday when I topped out on the summit about 8am there wasn't a breath of wind. My prayers go out to this guys friends & family.

Sad story all around.
But he wasn't "blown off the top", although that does make sensational news. The body was found just S of the Keyhole where you can slip/stumble and not roll anywhere, it's not steep enough to "fall", IF YOU ARE ON THE TRAIL !
That area is highly notorious for route finding errors and people heading up towards the False Keyhole instead of following the "Fried Eggs" though.
The poor soul had to have been WAY off route, soloing on the much higher, steeper cliffs above the trail. RIP
