I guess this explains the TV news crew(s) set up at the Beaver Meadows Visitor Center when I drove by about 5 this evening. I wondered what was up.

Those heavy lifting helicopters ought to be able to get the debris out, at least those big, red pieces. Tragedy notwithstanding, this constitutes litter in the extreme, if it's left there. HPH

You would think that someone on TRR would've witnessed that crash at that time of day.

My thoughts, too, Rhonda. Someone must of seen something. Regardless, I'm glad that they both were ok. Truly amazing.

Another question is why were they flying over the park? Isn't that illegal?

Scott

No, as long as you maintain a min 1000' ground clearance (and don't land) you can fly anywhere.

This is the result of a not so fortunate crash a few miles south in the IPW.

Hmmmm. Interesting. Still amazing to me that no one saw it go down with all the overlooks around Forest Canyon. Thank goodness it didn't start a wildfire.

I am certainly glad that they were not hurt or worse in that crash. And, I hope the accident didn't occur because they did something foolish. I, too, am surprised that no one saw the plane go down. Another "thank you" to the rangers and crew on this rescue.
