I didn't shoot a whole lot of video this year compared to previous visits, but here's the first of (probably) three or so installments. I won't know for sure until I'm all done editing up the footage. (And yes, I realize I use the terms "ground squirrel" and "chipmunk" interchangeably throughout this. It's the kid's fault.)

Here's a little glimpse behind the scenes. Those little guys really know their way around a camera.

Ignore the missing video in the original post. I had to re-upload it because I tweaked the opening caption, so the link changed. But since I couldn't edit the post, I'm posting the updated version here.

you'd better watch out. My sister-in-law was eating a sandwich at Cub Lake in June and got in a tug-of-war with a ground squirrel who would not take "no" for an answer. She won, but it was a hard fought battle. :stretcher:

Excellent video and first rate photos! I really enjoyed viewing them. Nice job!

My next comment is not intended to scold or criticize. I just want to make sure everyone knows there is a risk to being in somewhat close proximity to squirrels. Information on Plague. Yeah, usually there has to be enough contact to breathe in dust or have enough contact with the rodent to contract flea bites. But, it can happen. Last week, a squirrel carrying Bubonic Plague caused a California campground to close. Sure, this is remote, and the plague can be treated with antibiotics. But, I'd give the squirrels a wider berth.

Again, no criticism of your video or photos. They're great! I don't think you did anything wrong. I'm simply advising an abundance of caution.

The squirrels assured me the authorities would be cool with this. They seemed quite confident. Almost too confident. Their spokesmunk cracked his tiny knuckles and told me they had "made a few calls," whatever that means.
