July 3, Black Lake - Just the usual (for this time of year) couple of snowfields to cross just before the lake.

Thanks a bunch for the image.

Yesterday we hiked Mt Ida and onward along the slope past Jagor Point down to Lake Amore', Love Lake and Arrowhead Lake. The descent from Mt Ida directly down to Azure Lake looked a little too dicey for us with all the snow.

Does anybody know how the "S" gully is looking on the North side of Thatchtop? I'm curious if all the snow has melted out of it yet.

    Thanks!

July 10, Chasm Lake - Snow is virtually gone. What little snow that is left can be easily avoided. No side-hilling this year. I'm sure the Keyhole route to Longs will be non-technical very soon. The shelter hut near the lake that was rebuilt after the 2003 avalanche is gone again. There is a larger structure just beyond the privy. Perhaps it is the replacement.

Thanks! I guess I'll find out the answer this morning since that's where I'm heading.
