At approximately 3:30pm today a McDonnell Douglas 530-F helicopter crashed in the Big Thompson canyon. The pilot survived and when rescue crews arrived he was walking around the downed helicopter. The pilot was fighting the Drake fire which has been burning since the weekend and has burnt around 14 acres so far.

That is terrible - thanks for the update - I didn't even know there was a fire in Drake. I will go read the story. Thanks for keeping us informed, Aaron.

I am glad the pilot is ok - they do such a needed service, glad this one had a good outcome. Thanks for keeping us up to date.
