    In July we'll be packing in and camping at the Upper Ouzel Creek site below Bluebird Lake. The next day we'll go up to Bluebird Lake and beyond to Lark and Pipit. What I'm wondering is what the best route is up to the Continental Divide from Pipit Lake?
    This is my first ever post on any forum! Hope I did it right.

    From Lark, you reach the east end of Pipit Lake. You can go a little way around the south side and then turn south up the north face of Ouzel Peak. That's class 2 and about 1/2 mile. You could hike west along the north side of Pipit and continue up to the top of the ridge between Ouzel and Isolation Peaks. That's also class 2 and about 3/4 mile. A third option would be to continue north from Pipit to Isolation Lake. From there, you can go to the saddle between Isolation and Mahana Peaks turning west up the east face of Isolation. That's also class 2 but the longest and most work of the three.

    I've never climbed these, so I'm not sure whether it's easy or difficult route finding to keep things at class 2.

    If you don't have one already, I recommend Dannen or Foster hiking guides. Especially if you plan to visit more than once.

    Thank you, Scott! It's obvious that I'm not in my usual state of summer fitness because I'm getting tired just thinking of climbing those routes you mentioned! I do have both books and, though I didn't find the quickest-route-to-the-Divide in Foster's book, I will investigate them more deeply. Thank you!
