WoW!!! How awesome to see one in the Park! Are they becoming more prevalent??

Yes, I think so. The raptor closures were implemented early this year. And, I've seen more birds of all kinds earlier. The mountain bluebirds are back in large numbers. The rodent population is out and about in large numbers. Great horned owls keep me awake at night. I think the drought of the early 2000's is over. And, nature is returning to abundance. Like I mentioned above, there is a winter-kill elk in Moraine Park. That carcass is attracting coyotes, magpies, ravens, crows, turkey vultures and golden eagles.... probably mountain lions, too. I'll go to the site predawn tomorrow morning to take a look at the lingering predators. No reports of bears, yet. But, if they did emerge early from hibernation, they'd be hungry without their regular food sources available, yet. As it is in Yellowstone, the best wildlife viewing occurs at the time of snowmelt. It is now!
