June was 437,261, which was -7.94% compared with June
of 2003. Year-to-date visitation to this popular
National Park is 926,140, which is -1.52% relative to
the first six months of 2003."

I went in May 2003 and June 2004. The weather was way to unpredictable. It rained a ton last year. I not sue if I'll go again in May or June

I guess the overall drop in numbers might be bad for the park from a money standpoint, but I wouldn't mind the numbers going down a bit.

My previous post was visitor numbers for the year as a whole. I should have made that more clear as the original topic was for the month of May.....oops bag.gif The good news is that I'll be leaving for RMNP in a few days to counter these falling numbers.

No worries, we knew what you meant. I would really hate to see 3 million visitors for may alone.

It would be really interesting to see those numbers broken into locals (Denver-Cheyenne) vs out-of-towners. Do out-of-towners really pay attention to local, seasonal weather patterns when planning their trips?

We don't always have that luxury. Sometimes we are limited to which weeks we can take off work, or conflicting with the kids school schedule. I would love to be able to wake up in the morning, check the weather and decide to go to the park that day, buts that's hard when you live 2000 miles away. I've tried to hit the park at different times just for a different experience. I've always avoided Summer (even though it's the most stable weather) due to the crowds. This August will actually be my first "Summer" in the park. I've been there in Jan, Feb, May, June & Sept in the past. Will try to hit it in October (without kiddies) this year as well.
My favorite has been the Fall so far, but that is hard with the kids in school.
