We really need to set a date. March 1 is the day I will need to reserve the nights at The Boulderfield. Before that, we need some idea of how many would like to camp at The Boulderfield. We may need another person or two to reserve sites so we will have enough room for those who want to camp rather than dayhike.
I'd really enjoy helping some people have their first ever backpacking adventure. I have enough sleeping bags, pads, backpacks, and gear for half a dozen people and we could probably borrow for more if there is interest. I did Longs in 1999 and it took me 20 hours. I swore that if I ever did it again I would spend two nights at The Boulderfield to make it more enjoyable.
Day one we will leave mid morning and hike 6 miles to camp. We'll set up camp and enjoy dinner and great conversation. We will work out the details ahead of time so that everyone has a fun, comfortable night. At night we'll see the lights of far away cities and I'll help you spot satelites blazing across the sky. You'll see more stars than you've ever seen. If the weather gets bad we'll stay dry and warm in the tents. Earplugs will keep the wind and snoring from disturbing your sleep. Camping at over 12,000 feet is an adventure!
On day 2 by daylight we'll get ready to join the dayhikers who probably will have been hiking since 3 a.m. We'll have drinks and snacks ready for them and water filtered to refill their canteens. Then we'll summit Longs with them. If we have some who are less ambitious, they can stay at camp and keep the marmots out of our stuff. Or they can take a relatively easy climb to the summit of Mt. Lady Washington which has an amazing view of Longs East Face called The Diamond.
By early afternoon we'll be back at camp. We'll resupply water to those who are headed back to the trailhead. If some want to hike out that's cool, but I will spend a second night and relive the adventure (the stories will get better and better!) On day 3 I will probably be on Mt. Lady Washington to shoot the alpenglow on The Diamond and then pack up and hike out. I need at least one male to be in my group because of rules I impose on myself to avoid suspicions that pastors don't need.

The summit!
All I need is the date planned for the summit and then people who are interested can start letting me know.
