Does anyone know if there is somewhere in Estes Park to buy dry ice? We are leaving Saturday from Oklahoma, arriving Sunday. We generally pack our meat in dry ice so that it will stay frozen until we need it. The problem is by Tuesday the dry ice be gone, then we have to buy block ice to keep everything cool (we camp in Moraine where there is no electricity). Hoping to buy dry ice to keep everything good and cold so that it will last the week. Was thinking that the Safeway or Homeland or whatever that grocery store is up by the Stanley might have dry ice. Thanks in advance, if there are no posts I understand, this is a pretty random question that not just anyone would have the answer to.

Yes, Safeway does carry dry ice in inventory. You won't see it anywhere in the store, but they definitely have the product. Go to the service desk on the south end of the store. Tell them what you want. I think it comes in 10# packages. They'll check your identification to determine you are not a minor (yeah, makes me laugh, too.) And, I think it was a bit more expensive than I expected, like $15 per 10#. But, I'm not sure about the price or package sizes. Then, one of the managers will retrieve the dry ice from their secure storage. You can pay for the product at the service desk.

Okay, thanks! That is a great help. I always seem to get so bent out of shape worrying about things spoiling in the hot vehicle while we are out hiking.
