An agreement was reached between the National Park Service and Boulder-based International Mountain Bicycling Association, or IMBA that may open up some National Parks to mountain biking. Unfortunately for mountain bikers, Rocky Mountain National Park will not be one of them.

Dare I say I'm glad.
I don't mean to offend any bikers but it just wouldn't be the same with bikes.

I agree. There are plenty of recreation areas for bikes no? I think all mechanised transport should be outlawed in National Parks and Wilderness areas. The one exception being rescue vehicles.

This reminds me of my Kayak trip along the 17 mile Napali coast in Kauai. We were quitely enjoying the morning sun over the ocean, watching a pod of dolphins swim and play beneath us - we were all alone as the coast is pretty remote. All of the sudden out of nowhere comes a kid and his girlfriend roaring by on a jet ski. I knew that jet ski's were outlawed on the island and asked the guide how this person could do this. Turns out they give a few 'permits' out to local professional surfers. This guy was obviously not 'working', just trying to impress some chick. Even when given special privaledges, some people feel the need to abuse them.

Not really sure that this translates to bikes in a park. Lol. But it just reminded me of that experience.

yeah...I'm glad they will still be no bikes. There is no need for them in the park. There are only a handfull of places that they could even be safely used...and most of those are on the west side.

It's funny when I get people come in off the road towing their ATV's and I let t hem know that they can't use them in the park and they throw a fit. I would leave if they allowed that....

But yes, I am glad that the "no bikes" rule still stands.

Yep, no more "absense of sound". I would not go back there.
