This extended time frame of heavy
snow will allow storm total accumulations to reach 18 to 36 inches
in most locations... with a few spots in the Front Range foothills
expected to see as much as 4 feet of snowfall.

Just heard from Lsmith a while ago - sounds like the snow is very wet and heavy and is threatening to break tree limbs and stuff.

Here's a pic of the snow that she sent me. laugh.gif

Ha ha, but I saw that picture somewhere yesterday. However, I was looking at the cams and it does appear there is a lot of snow! Bet the mountains will be awesome when the clouds lift.

This made me laugh! But, that's exactly how we feel today, after constant snow all night and forecast for 24 hours more. Electricity has flashed off/on a few times. The trees are beautiful and burdened by the weight. I should go out and capture images, but I have time.

How much snow did Estes Park get? Wish I could be there! I love spring snowstorms and if we were to have one of that magnitude in Iowa, I would be beat by many angry Iowans for celebrating the snow.

It's 9:26 a.m. on Friday, 04/17/09. 15" of snow overnight. Very pretty, heavy with moisture and still falling. 1" per hour rate. Another 24" predicted to accumulate by Saturday noon. No wind. 25 degrees. Quiet and peaceful. There was thunder-snow at 5 am. And, the snow falls off the Ponderosa pines in basketball-sized mini-avalanches. Thuds on the roof, upsetting Maggie (golden retriever), who assumes it's a bear on the roof. This is a big "upslope conditions" snow. We needed the moisture. The rivers will run normally again. Fire danger has abated for now. I will take photos, but am enjoying coffee at my desk, while watching the winter scene.

I have been looking at the cams. too. But I would love to be like you, sitting drinking coffee, and watching the snow fall.

It certainly sounds beautiful, but I don't think I would want to be out on the roads today.

Be careful out there!

Poor Girl! That would startle our dogs too! Chief would be hiding and Lady would be seeking Mike or me for comfort and protection.

I can't see his cam at work, cussing.gif , but I have looked at the others, I can only imagine how much is at Smudge's. Guess I will have to wait until I get home.

We have gotten lucky and be here while this most AMAZING, BEAUTIFUL snow has been falling. We get snows in Missouri but nothing like this. We have been in awe at how beautiful the trees and all are. We have always wanted to be here during a big snow while here and we have finally gotten to see one. We are having a GREAT time as we do in Oct. but this time has WOWed us.

It's a beautiful snowfall but I'm glad I don't have to deal with it. A friend of mine from Cheyenne Wy. is snowed in pretty good too. She and her hubby have been off work all day. Some friends in Co. Springs say they're going to get hammered too. Springtime out west. blink.gif blink.gif caribou.gif

It's gorgeous up there when it snows!! Back when I was a kid and lived in Greeley my Dad used to take us for a drive in the mountains after it snowed and the Big Thompson would be mostly frozen over etc. It was remarkable. A friend and I were tent camping in the park one winter and had 11 or 12 inches of snow with the big herds of elk in Moraine Park it was breathtaking. Wish the pictures from back then were digital so I could share them...........if I could find them. rolleyes.gif caribou.gif
