Very good information! I'm a total newbie to snowshoeing, so it was nice to get some info before I try it.

I'm planning a 24 hour turn-around pause at Ft. Collins/RMNP on about Wednesday, Dec. 30. If weather permits, I think a brief try (up to 1 hour with ample pauses??) at snowshoeing might be the just the thing before we have to head back east to Michigan. I will be with my father who is in his 70's and exercises daily, though his only acclimation to the elevation would be having driven in the day before. I expect that we could rent shoes/poles at REI in Ft. Collins.
Any suggestions for pretty spots with easy terrain? Any other tips or alerts will be welcome. Thanks!
