For my seconfd trip this summer, I'm going to try to get to some more places I've never been in the park. Granite Falls is on the list. Can anyone comment on it?
I'm also looking at Ida, Thunder Pass (after seeing that awesome photo on another thread), the Lawn Lake area, or maybe some off-the-trail lake on the West Side (eg Ptarmigan/Snowdrift).

That's on my shortlist of hikes to do within the next year or two. I may do it this fall on my second trip. I would also like to hear from anyone who's already done this hike.

I've been to Granite Falls and it is nice. To get there it's a walk through the woods and except for Big Meadows, there's not much to look at. I think it's 10.2 miles from Green Mtn. TH round trip. You can see a lot more in RMNP in other 10 mile hikes. But, I'm glad I've been there!

i think granite is one of the better falls in the park. it doesn't have one leap in particular but rather a long series of multi-tiered dropoffs. sitting next to each one is like sitting next to a different waterfall. the hike itself is a long but pleasant stroll through peaceful meadows where you'll have a good chance of seeing moose during the early AM and later PM hours.
