Our own Slowpoke was quoted in the latest Backpacker Magazine in the Letters of the Month section.
"The Survival Issue makes a striking impression complete with a young woman in a classic melodramic pose. But backpacking shouldn't be sold as an activity fraught with danger. Congratulations, BACKPACKER, on becoming the National Enquirer of the outdoor world." - Slowpoke via email
This issue was thoroughly discussed in this RMNP Forum thread: Survival thread

Now I really wish I would have remembered that exact issue when we summited Thatchtop. I was going to get a pic of Ed reading it. I left it at McGregor by mistake...ugh. Cool 'Poke....you're a celebrity now

With my reading glasses on no doubt.

Lol. I wonder if that's the issue that's been sitting on my desk for the last few weeks, unopened. Guess I'll go check it out. I've been meaning to crack it open, but it's ski season and those mags are getting most of my focus right now. Seems like they must have paraphrased a bit or perhaps edited out a bunch of my whining to keep the submission readable. :)
