My husband and I recently stayed at Glacier Lodge and I can't recommend the place enough. We actually had stayed there before about 12 years ago with our 2 kids and my mother-in-law, and had a great experience then. It's not fancy, but it is comfortable, has a variety of accomodations on the property, and is very conveniently located near the Beaver Meadows entrance to the park (same road as the YMCA but not as far down). The cabins are seperated from the main road by the Big Thompson River, and are a little more set back as well. We didn't feel road noise was a problem at all, and enjoyed the wooded, peaceful setting. During the regular season, they have activities that cater to families. We wanted to tell our kids (now in college!) that we saw "their" ground squirrels that they had so much fun watching back then, but this time they were already asleep for the winter. When the office is open, there's great coffee...help yourself...as well as a cozy place to catch up on your e-mail if you need to (free wireless!). The units have televisions, but no phones, although there is a payphone near the office. The people there are so friendly, and the rates are reasonable. We will definitely stay there again.
