Hey Ed, when the last of the guesses come in, I'll post the date. As for your answer, ain't telling yet ... wink2.gif But sticking to the weather vocabulary, I'll say you are getting very warm ... smile1.gif

Hey Jinks, I will confirm the million below and then some ... As you and many other will note, it probably felt even colder than that ... laugh.gif

That was actually going to be my answer too! Honest!!! I just got distracted by other things this morning and didn't get a chance to post. Even if it's wrong, at least I can say I had the same answer as Igloo Ed - that makes me feel good smile1.gif

I'm guessing -39. Are we supposed to include the year?

. . . .and with the windchill it was a million degrees below zero. . .

Hey, I was in Estes that day, and it was a million below when I was on the streets of Estes taking pictures of a totally bare Elkhorn Drive too. Bill went in one of the shops, and the shop owner said, "You aren't a native here are you?", of course Bill bought the bait, "No, why?". . . .."Because none of the natives are dumb enough to be out in this!" blink.gif

A million below was pretty scary!

Lynette had the right answer. It was -39 on Feb. 1, 1951. Those of you who have had the opportunity to see the Bank's thermometer here in town hit 100 and higher, that could not be more bogus. This is what spurred the Trail Gazette to do a story this coming Friday because so many folks saw the Bank show 100 earlier this week. The highest temp ever recorded in Estes was 98 on July 13, 1925. Accuweather.com states it was 101 degrees on this day (July 25th) but does not give the year.

http://www.accuweather.com/us/co/estes-par...=0&zipChg=1

weather.com states: http://www.weather.com/outlook/travel/vaca...vac_top10_theme

The highest recorded temperature was 96°F in July of 1989.
The lowest recorded temperature was -39°F in February of 1951.

Accuweather is absolutely NOT correct! Based on the official NWS records dating back to 1896, 98 is the highest Estes Park has ever been. I have no clue where Accuweather got that. Nothing is more official than the National Weather Service. And weather.com is two degrees too low. Go with the NWS and Weather bee.gif ... Can't go wrong with us! ... wink2.gif smile1.gif whistling.gif
