I had one of the best customer service experiences ever at the Hiking Hut today and feel obligated to spread the good word that there is a reason why this place is one of very few stores that I frequent in EP. They have a huge selection of Life is Good gear, which is some of the most comfortable stuff I wear. The cashier that helped me was not rude, but very friendly and helpful, a rarity these days. Gotta love the Hut!

Props to the Hiking Hut! I should check them out since my experience with the one people talk about the most was dreadful the last time I was there. Terrible experience with the owner.
Go Hiking Hut!

Is the hiking hut the one right on the west end of town by the beaver meadows entrance...if so, we also visited it last time and I thought they had a lot of good stuff (not the best prices) but the people there were very nice and helpful.... if not, then whatever place that is good :)

The Hiking Hut is on the main drag in downtown Estes. It's narrow but deep. We have bought Life is Good shirts there several times.

I just have to add that Outdoor World, right next to Macdonald's Book Shop, is the gear store where I have had the worst customer service. A few years ago, I went in there to by some new hiking boots because mine were worn. I explained to the clerk helping me that I needed new boots because the sneakers I wore hiking to the summit of Mt Chapin hurt my feet. The guy said "I've never heard of Mount Chapin. I only do extreme hiking, like Deer Ridge." Seriously, I will never forget it. I nearly laughed in this guy's face, but because I am a nice person just nodded and smiled.

I'll bet he's the same guy we saw punishing Lily Lake last time up.

whats wrong with extreme hiking? I do it all the time...like Sprague or Bear Lakes. After one of those, I head to McDonalds for a refueling bigmac to make up for all the calories I lost on my extreme jaunt. Then I go get a foot massage because of all the extreme hiking I do and then I wear a shirt that says "I conquered Bear Lake" and laugh at all of the people who try to hike it and have to get rescued. I'm so extreme it hurts sometimes!!!

I forget just how far I've seen the cars lined up down the road from the parking lot.
You might have a winner there Marv,

When my brother in law and I did longs last August, we got there at midnight and didnt have any problem with parking, got front row seats, so to speak.
If you do get t-shirts that say i conquered longs, count me in for a couple of them. :-)

The visual I have of that guy power walking with arms swinging, passing little kids and old ladies at Lily Lake is cracking me up!
