I would like to hike to Lake Jasper from the Hesse TH (knowing that I'll need to walk a little ways just to get to Hesse TH). Approximately how far is it? Has anyone ever hiked this in the winter time? Is it worth it. I hiked up to Lake Issabelle in Feb and that was definitely worth the time. Any advice?

Trying to get some dialogue going again on my hike to Jasper Lake in March. I knwo this is under the RMNP rather than Indian Peaks but this site seems to be hit more often. Is the trail to Jasper, in March, easy to follow? Of course I expect to need snowshoes but was wondering more than anything if the lake would be easy to get to.

Bump for cardinal on this question. All you Indian Peaks hikers chime in.

I'm afraid I don't have any useful help on this one. My first visit to IPW was last year, and I stuck to the Pawnee Pass/Cascade Creek trails on that one. Sorry. I can dig out my hiker's guide and post a description if you'd like.

I wish I knew. I live just down the road from Indian Peaks, but I've never been up to Jasper Lake. I seem to spend all my time in RMNP. After I have explored every nook and crany there, I may spread out to IPW, but I still have a ways to go on the 415sq miles of RMNP.

Cardinal

I haven't hiked Indian Peaks myself, but I know there are several people at backpacker forums that are familiar with the area and should be able to help.

Here's the link http://forums.backpacker.com/forum.jspa?forumID=15
