Cool pics Glenn.

As for a late May trip, I'd say go for it. I went one year a few days after Memorial Day and it was downright warm in town and comfortable in the mountains. Nothing close to the snow levels Glenn showed.

Here's a video I made of TRR in case you're wondering about what the road is like. (slightly later in the year)

Here's how we handled the snow we did find on June 1st.

Wow, thank you all for so many replies! I really appreciate everyone's comments. I'll be sure to leave my motorcycle at home smile1.gif so I don't get stuck. The photos were great -- thanks for posting them -- and being there with the "wall of snow" looks cool.

I'm still not sure yet on exactly what hiking trails... definitely some in the Glacier Gorge/Bear Lake area, and mostly those in the "moderate" difficulty level.

I'm leaning toward making the trip and will be sure to report back. Of course, I may have additional questions in the meantime...

I love it that time of year! Very few crowds and lots of animals. Over that weekend last year we saw 11 moose: standing right by the roadways. A mother coyote and her cubs have had a den in the sheeps lake area and they were frolicking in the meadow. At one point we saw 5 coyotes in the meadow (not counting the pups,)
We have been there other times when TRR is closed but it is usually temporary. Great time to go!
