Your guide to Grand Lake, Estes Park, and other surrounding communities of RMNP

During your visit to Rocky Mountain National Park you'll likely spend time in one of the towns surrounding the park such as Grand Lake or Estes Park. Each town has something to offer and has its own unique feel to it. Using the guide below you can discover what each town has to offer you as far as entertainment, dining, shopping, lodging and more.

Grand Lake: Grand Lake, the western gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park, is situated next to its namesake, the largest natural lake in Colorado. Grand Lake is one of Colorado's earliest resort towns. It was incorporated in 1944 and has grown to become a town of about 447 people. The opportunity for outdoor adventure abounds with fun at the lake, or in bordering Rocky Mountain National Park. There is also plenty of winter fun to be had as well.

Stroll through the boardwalk fronted shops along main street to find unique jewelry, decorations for your home, handcrafted toys, chocolates, candies, and more. Savor great food from many award winning restaurants. Then at the end of the day you can kick back and relax in one of the areas cabins, Bed & Breakfasts, historic lodges, or rental properties. Estes Park: Estes Park, the eastern gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park, is named after Joel Estes who settled there in 1859. Since then it has become a town of 5,413 people. Estes Park is surrounded with opportunity to experience the outdoors as it not only borders Rocky Mountain National Park, but Roosevelt National Forest as well.

Estes Park meets the tourism requirements of the millions of visitors that pass through it each year. Yet it still maintains much of the same victorian charm that it possessed over a hundred years ago. Dining, entertainment and lodging opportunities abound. [more...]
